My wife Cathy and I have owned an event business as well as a small farm in Meredith, NY. We have been in business for over 40 years and have had the pleasure of working with an assortment of professionals who were a pleasure to work with and some not.
ONCE UPON A TIME being a rustic location was chosen by our daughter and her husband. We were a bit concerned at first, but Steve quickly put us at rest. The venue is definitely in a beautiful setting, but more important, is the professionalism and courtesy of Steve that overwhelmed us. Not only was his staff extremely pleasant and professional, but the extent of Steves manner to make us feel loved, yes loved was uncanny. His concern that Cathy, mother of the bride and owner of Sviba Decorators was fed properly and taken care of went far and beyond. Obviously we decorated our daughters wedding which meant we were all non-stop working and again, Steve was always there by his own decision to be kind, make sure we ate knowing our diet restrictions…. I can go on and on.
In short, we, the professionals that helped us do the wedding all praise Steve, his crew with high praise. A beautiful and fun rustic location along with this type of professionalism is truly a blessing…..with that being said a wonderful location to have a wedding!

The Once Upon a Time Barn is romantically nestled in a bucolic, fairy-tale setting. Located in the shadow of verdant hills by water's edge, you'll be surrounded by nature without sacrificing the luxuries that the perfect wedding requires.
The staff were attentive, kind and welcoming, and they made all in attendance feel like family. Time stops at the Once Upon a Time Barn in a way that makes for lasting memories that will endure back "out there in the real world." We'd recommend this little slice of heaven to anyone planning on sharing their joyful ceremony with friends and family.

ONCE UPON A TIME BARN
Once Upon a Time Barn is the perfect venue with an all-natural backdrop of wildflowers, a pond and mountain views. It was a beautiful spot for our wedding! The drive in past the pumpkin patch and then through the woods with some very cool lighting along the way is quite special.
The grounds include a two-bedroom rustic cabin which was perfect for our bridal party to stay the night before the wedding, and then where we stayed the night of our wedding. The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities one could ask for.
The barn is simply breathtaking. There’s a separate bar area which is air conditioned for those hot summer days and it’s decorated giving the vibe of an old Victorian bourbon smoke room. The lighting and sound system were fantastic.
The screened patio has a beautiful wood burning pizza oven and was a perfect place for our cocktail hour. There’s a fully covered deck that overlooks the pond that offers additional seating. It is a perfect place to sit around the gas fire pit in the evening to relax and visit with a nice glass of wine. The sunset was vibrant with the mountains as a backdrop.
We can’t say enough about the food! Our guests were treated to a very impressive selection of appetizers and hors d’oeuvres. The presentation was beautifully done. While the first course had our guests in awe, they couldn’t believe there was a main course. The food was just amazing.
The views are breathless, and the venue is perfect. The Colletti family went above and beyond to make our dreams come true. They were great to work with and the communication was excellent. It has been almost a year since our wedding and our friends and family are still raving about the venue and the food! Many say it was the best wedding they have ever attended!
We are so thankful to have had our wedding at the Once Upon a Time Barn. It’s a beautiful piece of heaven tucked away in the Adirondack mountains. We cannot thank Steve and all his family and staff for all their professionalism in making our day so perfect! As a bride, my wedding day was a dream come true, thanks in large part to the Once Upon a Time Barn in Olmstedville, NY. This venue provided the perfect backdrop for our special day, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue.
From the moment my fiancé and I set foot on the property (before we were even engaged), we were captivated by the beauty of the venue. The abundance of wildflowers and waterfront created a natural beauty and atmosphere. It was a delightful touch to incorporate some of these wildflowers into one of our signs, making it feel even more personalized and unique.
One of the standout features of this venue was the convenience it offered. The option to rent the venue for the entire weekend was a game-changer, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the celebration. The availability of a guest house specifically for getting ready ensured that we had a comfortable and private space to prepare for the big day. Additionally, the groomsmen's shed provided a separate area for the groom and his party to get ready, ensuring everyone had their own special space.
The cocktail hour space at Once Upon a Time Barn was a true gem. With a screened-in porch, speakeasy-style bar, and an outside covered deck overlooking the water, it provided the perfect setting for our guests to mingle and enjoy the breathtaking views.
The barn itself was a sight to behold. I was especially grateful that all the tables and chairs were provided, and the venue staff took care of setting up the table settings for us. It allowed us to focus on other aspects of our wedding planning.
However, the true highlight of our wedding day was the food. Steve's culinary skills were simply outstanding. The fact that several of the ingredients were farm fresh, sourced directly from their own farm on the property, made the dining experience even more special. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the food for days. He was incredibly accommodating, making sure that all of our requests were met and going above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction.
In conclusion, the Once Upon a Time Barn provided the wedding of my dreams. From the breathtaking beauty of the venue to the convenient on-site amenities, every aspect was carefully thought out and executed to perfection.

A real gem nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, this venue is nothing short of amazing.
I recently celebrated my 40th birthday at the Once Upon a Time Barn and I cannot rave enough about this venue! The landscape and views are stunning, the food was fantastic, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, and the overall atmosphere is so relaxing.
The waterfront views and outdoor fireplaces are a perfectly added touch to amplify the beauty of this place and its natural surroundings.
I had guests who traveled from far and wide and they were astonished by the venue as a whole.
The venue is equipped with onsite lodging which was a huge benefit given the amount of out of state guests I had attending. Everyone had nothing but positive things to say about the amenities offered through this venue.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the Once Upon a Time Barn for any occasion whether it be a birthday, family reunion, wedding etc. The venue is equipped to accommodate any type of event that will leave you and your guests with memories that will last a lifetime.

Where do we begin?! In an effort to give you folks the most comprehensive review we will keep it simple! Who, What, Where, When…
Who: By this stage of life I have attended some 50-100 weddings, I’ve participated in dozens and even officiated once. I’ve been to venues from Long Island to Las Vegas, and Once Upon a Barn was uniquely one of the best! The owner, host and head chef himself, Steve, was unbelievable! I would describe him as ‘salt of the earth’! A kind, gentle and generous soul. He takes pride in his establishment, his people, and his work. A man who loves and lives the dream he and his wife created years prior. Steve was easy to work with, easy to talk to, and most importantly a man of his word. He delivered a spectacular wedding the way he promised...
What: So we contracted Once Upon a Time Barn to host our wedding. The original venue we had planned fell through with only about 2 months before the big day. We contacted Steve, he penciled us in and invited us out. We chose a ‘One Day’, ‘Premium Wedding Package’. We had 60-70 guests… And it was perfect. I know the website says they can accommodate up to 165 guests and I’m sure they are right; however this was the perfect venue with plenty of space to dance for the 60-70 we had in attendance. The price set in the contract was exactly what was billed, and everything was delivered just as Steve said. We were able to come to the venue the night before to decorate and Steve provided us with a chicken parm dinner- he opened the bar for us and the rehearsal dinner was great! He never made us feel unwelcomed or pressed for time, he even helped us set up the tables. When it came time for the reception the food was outstanding to the point that many guests had contacted us well after the wedding and commented about the quality and quantity of the food from Hors oeuvres to the main course and desert!! We chose to purchase the buffet style package. Steve catered to all of our needs with slight changes to the menu from simple ingredients to full swaps of food. His communications throughout the entire work up with awesome!
Where: Once Upon a Barn, is a rustic establishment set back deep in the woods about 15-20 minutes outside of Schroon Lake. It offers some beautiful views for pictures. More importantly it offers all the creature comforts one would expect when hosting a wedding. The venue was impeccably clean. The kitchen was spotless. The dressing room for the bride and groom were perfectly suited. The bar room was classy with good mid-shelf offerings and fashionable décor- very comfortable! The bathrooms (while limited to two) were very clean, functioning, and stocked with toiletries. The staff were primarily young, but what they lacked in experience they made up for in their kindness, care and professionalism. They treated all our guests with respect.
When: We were married this past June, we were blessed with beautiful weather, and we were able to partake in the beautiful garden outside; however there was so much covered space that had it rained we would have been just fine. Steve potted some flowers from his green house, and they were eloquently decorating the property. It was perfect for late spring, early summer- and I can’t imagine how beautiful it would be in the fall.
In closing the barn and property is beautiful, as the old colloquialism goes “you pay for what you get”, and Once Upon a Barn made our dream wedding a reality. The food was impeccable, (the kind you would write home about) and host was exceptional. I would recommend this place to any couple looking for a venue.
Cannot rave about this hidden gem enough, Highly Recommend!
